Crafted Sustainably, hand knotted and hand woven beautifully!

At One ‘O’ Eight Knots, we believe in the magic of mindful craftmanship. Our vision is to bring you exquisitely handcrafted products that not only elevate your spaces and lives but also contribute to a healthier planet.

OUR MATERIALS

Cotton

This natural fibre, sourced from the cotton plant, has stood the test of time, offering comfort, breathability, and sustainability that only a few other materials can match. Our macrame products are meticulously crafted using high-quality natural cotton threads.

These threads are locally sourced from eco-friendly suppliers of Ahmedabad, Gujarat who adhere to responsible and ethical practises. The threads are carefully selected by our team to ensure durability, strength and soft touch. They are then hand dyed by local dyers making sure that the dye is even and colour fastness is kept in check. Once the threads are dyed, our team indulges in a final round of quality check to make sure the threads are perfect for the artisans to work with. The cutting and knotting processes begin where our artisans use these threads to craft unique and visually beautiful pieces that stand out for their craftsmanship.

Cotton undeniably remains a timeless favourite and is celebrated throughout our hand-knotted macrame collection.

OUR MATERIALS

Natural Banana Fibre

A network of fibres as strong as they are supple, as resilient as they are delicate. Along with being 100% natural and biodegradable, banana fibres are also highly durable, light-weight, rapidly renewable, water and fire resistant, making it a treasure that lies hidden within the towering banana trees. At One ‘O’ Eight Knots, our endeavour is to utilise the stems of the banana plants by extracting its fibres, pulp and the sap to make beautiful handmade products as a part of our Zero Waste Initiative.

These fibres are extracted and processed by local farmers and artisans of Karnali at our Banana Fibre Unit. The outer bark - green portion of the banana pseudostem is peeled, and the banana fibres are obtained from the brown or cream-ish portion of the inner bark of the trunk. After removing excess moisture, the fibre shreds are combed, cleaned and dried. These fibres are then woven on a handloom by our team of artisans to create beautiful lifestyle and home decor items.

Banana fibres are a sustainable alternative to traditional materials. Our one-of-a-kind extraction process helps in maintaining the inherent texture and strength of these fibres. The outcome is aesthetically pleasing products that add a touch of nature to your living spaces.

Our choices of materials reflect our commitment to creating products that not only enhance your spaces but also contribute to a greener lifestyle. By choosing our products, you are supporting a cause that values quality, craftmanship and environmental responsibility.
