Introduction to One 'O' Eight Knots
Handmade Production
We celebrate hands that weave, knot, tie, cut, stitch, dye, design, organise and create. Each product is individually crafted by women artisans at our workshop who are skillfully trained.
The joy of handmade is not only for the creator but even for the people for whom these products are made.
Collaborative Crafts
We strive to keep these crafts alive and spread the love for handmade production. We train and teach artisans in the age old crafts of weaving, knotting, stitching etc. and work with natural materials that they are most familiar with.Their expertise and experience lends to active discussions to create new products for contemporary homes and urban lifestyles.
Empowerment
Lucrative employment and economic opportunities have led to confident, economically self-sustaining women who are able to support their families, while realizing their individual identities as well.
Empowered women empower women.
Sustainable Development
We make conscious choices while working with natural materials and instilling plastic free packaging. Our artisans have a source of self-sustenance from the income they make while crafting these products.
We ensure sustainable, responsible consumption of resources and production of goods.
Community
Women here are not employed in the conventional sense – they come here with joy, they connect, share, exchange and bond while working together. They have their fun too, over various social gatherings and events, which they organise themselves. The community is our strength as we create opportunities of growth outside their homes and help them realise their un-tapped potential.
Innovation
We collaborate with creative individuals from diverse backgrounds and interests in lifestyle product development. We create artisanal products for everyday use which are functional and good looking!
Belief
Our ideology is rooted in the wholesomeness of life and we believe that the social upliftment of women encompasses both physical and mental, and material and spiritual contentment – this will lead to an empowered society.
Practice
We are committed to building confidence and self-sustenance among economically-challenged urban and rural women. Just as we are committed to the cause of our sisters, we are also dedicated to our customers bringing them well-crafted, artisanal outcomes that are environmentally and socially sustainable.
Goals
We are working towards nurturing wholesome products and empowering the lives of their makers. By 2024, we aim to create a network of empowered, financially independent women, who shall influence individuals and the social system at large. We hope to touch the lives of 10,000 women in the next three years.
